FINAT to provide networking facility for European and Indian label companies
FINAT, the self-adhesive label trade association, is to act as ‘matchmaker’ between European and Indian labeling industries to create a forum to give small and medium sized member companies in both regions better chances of doing business with each other. The forum is supported by the EU’s Asia Invest program and will be organized in cooperation with the national trade associations VskE (Germany) and LMAI (India).
The move will culminate with face-to-face meetings between companies in New Delhi in December but will start in August when members of the Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI) meet in Mumbai to be told of the practical aspects of doing business with European companies.
It is hoped that a total of about 80 small and medium sized label printers and converters from both trade regions will form the core of the Euro-India Labeling Exchange, as the forum will be called.
FINAT’s managing director, Jules Lejeune, and LMAI President Surendra Kapur, see great potential for co-operation between partners in the respective regions.
‘The aim is to lay the foundation for successful business co-operation between Indian and European SMEs in the labeling industry.
‘This includes the development of trade and supply relations, investment in the labeling sector both in India and the EU, the establishment of joint ventures and the transfer of market knowledge and technology.
‘Success will strengthen the sector in both India and the EU.’
The conference in Mumbai will explain to LMAI’s members the objectives of the Labeling Exchange, introduce the European market to them and provide general information concerning the Asia Invest program.
That meeting should identify companies wanting to develop joint trade relations and will enable profiles to be developed to facilitate the ‘matchmaking.’
The European-Indian Labeling Exchange (5-7 December) will feature a seminar giving detailed oversights into the respective markets before the face-to-face meetings between companies that want to develop partnerships. This event will coincide with the India Label Show which will be held in New Delhi from 6-9 December.
In the course of this spring, FINAT is to launch a special website for the project, http://www.euro-indialabel.com/ which will give interested companies the opportunity to pre-register and submit their company profile.
