Ajanta Packaging purchases AB Graphic Omega at Gulf Print

On the first day of Gulf Print, Secure Print Equipment Suppliers (SPES) announced the sale of an Omega SR 410 slitter inspection rewinder to Ajanta Packaging of Sharjah.
The Omega SR 410, manufactured by UK-based AB Graphic, is a label inspection rewinder for the finishing and inspection of pharmaceutical and cosmetic labels. Equipped with a Fly eye Vision 100% defect detection system, the machine is capable of inspecting each label individually for defects like color variation, missing text, mis-register, extraneous text etc, and generates a report file which can be electronically archived or printed directly for sending to the customer as a proof of inspection. The software has been recently upgraded to scan barcodes for readability on each label including 2D data matrix codes.
Chandan Khanna, owner of Ajanta Packaging, said: ‘We have been on the lookout for a slitting and inspection system for some time now and with the excellent reference that ABG has in the market, the Omega SR 410 was our obvious choice. The after sales service provided by SPES in the UAE has been well known and I know the Indian promoters of the company for many years now and have full confidence in their support.’
Tony Bell, sales director, AB Graphic, commented: ‘For the past few years, we have not been paying enough attention to the Middle East market; but starting 2009, we have made this our priority market. You will see a lot of sales and support effort and we will be showcasing our entire range in the months to come. We are working on some innovative new projects to install in the region.’
Malkhan Ram, sales manager, SPES, added: ‘While SPES has made big inroads into the security printing market in the region – we have 80 percent market share in check printing machines – our next area of focus is label printing and label finishing.’
