Clondalkin invests in finishing equipment in UK

The Specialist Packaging Division of global packaging provider Clondalkin Group has invested GBP £300,000 in finishing equipment in the UK.
To support its expansion within the cosmetic, premium beverage and pharmaceutical markets, Clondalkin Group’s Specialist Packaging Division is installing three new AB Graphic finishing lines at Harlands Labels in Hull and Ditone Labels in Kimbolton.
Harlands will benefit from two of the new lines – an Omega HSR 330 and a T150. The Omega will provide additional rewind capacity with 100 percent inspection capability for premium spirits, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. The T150 will significantly increase the company’s onlay capacity whilst providing inlay capability to allow growth in the RFID market.
At Ditone, a second Omega HSR 330 finishing line with 100 percent inspection capability is being installed to enhance quality assurance, minimize risk and ensure full compliance with stringent pharmaceutical industry standards.
The installations also create additional security of supply and back-up across Harlands and Ditone for their key customers. The new equipment is part of an on-going company-wide investment program that will contribute to the expansion of its production and sales presence in new markets to support ambitious growth plans, says the company.
David Lennon, CEO of Clondalkin Group’s Specialist Packaging Division, said: ‘Investment for our future growth is something we take very seriously. These investments will add significantly to our business development strategy.
‘The pharmaceutical market is one of our key growth areas as a division, which is why we made the decision to install the finishing lines. We are committed to exceeding the high expectations that are set by customers and the industry itself. The three new finishing lines will play an integral role in enhancing capability and helping us achieve our ambitious targets’.
Chris Dew, recently appointed managing director of Clondalkin UK Labels, said: ‘The RFID market continues to be one of the fastest growing sectors in which we work, so the new installation at our site will ensure that we are offering the very latest, state-of-the-art technology to our valued customers.’
