Watershed installs BGM Multiflex rewinder

Watershed Packaging Group has boosted its finishing capabilities with a Bar Graphic Machinery-supplied Multiflex multiple substrate servo inspection slitter rewinder.
Founded in 1993 by chief executive John Waters, Watershed Packaging has become a leading provider of customized flexible packaging and self-adhesive labels, with an eight million GBP annual turnover and four production facilities across the UK for delivery direct to the end user.
Watershed Packaging’s managing director Stephen Walker commented: ‘With label run lengths declining, but demand for flexible packaging on the rise, it was essential that we had the correct flexible finishing capabilities to coincide with the capabilities of our four printing presses.
‘On viewing a number of machine manufacturers Bar Graphic Machinery’s multiple substrate finishing system really did stand out from the crowd and within 24 hours of demonstration on several of our most difficult substrates the order had been placed. It was without doubt a very easy decision to make. The speed and tension accuracy were outstanding not to mention the profile on the rewind. This further investment will help our growth and expansion plans within the flexible packaging sector.
Daniel Carr sales manager of Bar Graphic Machinery commented: ‘We are delighted that Watershed has identified our Elite Multiflex as the perfect solution to meet today’s market demands. Capable of slitting and finishing a wide range of unsupported and supported films, foils, papers, light board and label stock substrates, the Multiflex incorporates a motion controller that maintains constant communication between the servo axis achieving greater accuracy of positioning and substrate tension control. Ease of operation and simple set up is aided by a user friendly HMI screen that also provides constant diagnostics and machine status.’
