Flexicon expands digital workflow with EskoArtwork

German pre-press service provider Flexicon AG, catering for the international branded goods industry in 30 countries, is one of the first companies to install EskoArtwork’s new flexo plate exposure system Cyrel Digital Imager Spark 5080 Optics 80.

The digital large format flexo plate exposure system was introduced by EskoArtwork at this year’s drupa. ‘The CDI Spark 5080 Optics 80 is the latest member in our family of digital exposure systems for flexo plates and was specifically designed to meet the demands of corrugated cardboard processors and their need for large format plates,’ said Flexicon global project manager Oliver Hendricks.

The CDI Spark 5080 handles digital flexo plates measuring up to 1,270 x 2,032 mm in size and 6.35 mm in thickness. It allows the illustration of full format plates and ablative foils or partial plates of any format. The integrated Optics 80 laser system ensures full format plates to be illustrated in only 19 minutes at 2,540 dpi. Inline plate exposure and automatic plate loading improve the workflow.

‘The tight cooperation with the world’s market leader Esko allows Flexicon to already install the CDI Spark 5080 Optics 80 in a pre-release version,’ said Hendricks. The digital flexo plate exposure system offers resolutions from 2,000 to 4,000 ppi, a halftone resolution of 200 lpi and 1-99 percent dots.
