A total of 511 Latin American flexographers, representing more than 20 countries met for three consecutive FTA-sponsored international seminars. The events, held in Chile, Mexico and Argentina, were spread over a two week period.
Each day of the three-country tour involved technical seminars covering topics that ranged from flexo proofing techniques to the evolution of gearless presses. In Chile and Argentina, Mark Mazur, DuPont USA, gave a presentation in English, with simultaneous Spanish translation, on the advantages of a digital workflow. Other speakers included Juan Bermdez, Harper, Ricardo Cabeza, Comexi, Carlos Alvarado, Beta Industries and Willi Muller, W& H. Graciela Gilbride, FTA’s director of international activities, reported that the seminars were well attended and most speakers received high marks in the evaluations.
Said Gilbride “We have been able to refine the schedule year by year to determine which topics are the most valuable to our attendees. In doing so, we have received high praise and increased the value-add for the attendees. Overall, it has been a win-win situation.”
Mark Cisternino, president, Flexographic Technical Association added, “The International Seminars have truly been a global event over the years with participating speakers representing companies based in the United States, Mexico, Spain, the UK, Italy, Germany, as well as various countries throughout Central and South America. Some of the best exchanges of technical information take place during open discussions on the program where audience members pose questions to the speakers who then address their answers representing diverse international perspectives. Not only does the audience gain from this type of interaction, but presenters also learn through this valuable information exchange.”
