Italian press manufacturer GiDue has supplied a F-Combat 370 press complete with ‘film kit’ to Digital Labels, located in Amman, Jordan. The press is used for printing on a wide range of substrates including pressure sensitive paper, supported and unsupported films, DPVC, BOPP and OPP for shrink sleeves, wrap around labels, barrier films and pouches.

Equipped with six printing units, the press features the GiDue ‘film kit’ including 760 mm (30 inch) water-cooled chill drums adjacent to the 6 UV curing lamps for heat management.  Also included for full flexible packaging production are servo motors located at the unwind, infeed and outfeed rollers along with a corona treater, antistatic bars, web cleaner, web turn bar, combination laminator and cold foil stamping units with a foil-saver attachment.

Digital Labels was formed in October 2004 by Amer Sabha, owner and general manager, and is now staffed with 18 personnel. The company serves the food, beverage and automotive markets in Jordan and surrounding regions and also specializes in thermal labels used for tamper evident applications.

Aber Sabha commented: ‘In a very short time the demand for our products grew to such a level that we had to consider increasing production while still maintaining the high level of quality we are known for. We evaluated various presses and found the F-Combat from GiDue was the one best suited to our production needs. The ‘flower’ print head design helps us to deliver many different short run jobs per day and we can print BOPP unsupported film at speeds up to 140m/min. We attribute our growth in such a short period of time directly to the GiDue press and for the strong leadership and market direction provided to us by the company. The press has also performed well in terms of standardization plus the after-sales support from GiDue has been invaluable to us.

GiDue managing director Federico d’Annunzio added: ‘Early in our discussions with Mr Sabha and his team, we came to understand the company’s requirements based on the research it had carried out in their label market.  The F-Combat is tailored to the markets Digital Labels want to grow and provides entry into the flexible packaging market at a relatively low investment cost.’
