Heidelberg expands packaging portfolio to wide web flexo
Heidelberg Eastern Europe and SOMA Engineering have announced a cooperation regarding the sales of the SOMA range of products in Eastern Europe from Lake Constance to Vladivostok. Located in Lanskroun, Czech Republic, SOMA Engineering manufactures printing and converting machines with applications in the shrink/stretch sleeve label flexo printing arena. Its portfolio encompasses CI flexographic printing presses, slitter/rewinders, laminators, mounter/proofers, sheeters, die cutters and special purpose machines. The company has 190 employees and serves an international market with representation and distribution channels in Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, USA, Canada and South America. SOMA Engineering has experienced dynamic growth over the last five years attributed mainly to exports that currently represents 90 per cent of its business volume. The sales agreement with Heidelberg is aimed at strengthening SOMA’s current position in Central and Eastern Europe and to secure further expansion in more distant territories. With the addition of the SOMA range of products Heidelberg has extended its product range and is now able to offer both wide web and narrow web flexographic printing presses for label and packaging applications. Commenting on the agreement Petr Blasko, Sales Manager at SOMA stated, ‘We are delighted to be working with Heidelberg and recently held an Open House event for the company’s Eastern European sales team where we were able to provide a full introduction to our products.
