Under a new agreement, IDTechEx, an independent analyst for smart labels, and Tarsus, the owners of Labelexpo and Labels & Labeling, will organize Smart Labels USA 2005 together.  Smart Labels USA 2005, taking place in June 2005 in Baltimore, will be a global event for item level tagging, smart applications, RFID and its implications for the label producer, technology and systems suppliers and end users.
The fourth annual Smart Labels USA conference, with mini-exhibition, will examine and review the issues surrounding smart labels and RFID - in order to understand the requirements of brand owners, product manufacturers, retail groups, healthcare, airports, consumer supply chain, livestock, warehousing, and others looking to adopt item level tagging.  The event will also assess the manufacturing challenges and opportunities for the label industry.
Smart Labels USA 2005 will provide significant opportunities for all those in the item tagging RFID smart label production and usage chain to network, exchange ideas, find suppliers, agents or distributors, and understand where they should be investing or developing for the future.  There will be a strong focus on presenting case studies from actual implementations, with detailed discussions regarding the needs of users.  Previous speakers at Smart Labels have represented the US Department of Defence, Dow Chemical, Lego, Marks & Spencer, Microsoft, Nokia, and Intel.  The fourth day of Smart Labels USA will form a Masterclass, with smaller groups tackling practical issues in extra detail.
Dr Peter Harrop, Chairman, IDTechEx Ltd, said, “Smart Labels USA gets bigger every year because it is run by experts from the industry with exceptional global reach. Indeed, with Smart Labels Europe and Smart Labels Asia it forms part of the only global conference series on the subject.  Now it has even stronger backing with Tarsus co-producing the US event.”
Roger Pellow, Labelexpo Managing Director, said, “We are very excited to be partnering with IDTechEx to organise Smart Labels USA 2005.  The show fits very well with our existing global portfolio.  RFID and the issues surrounding it are the hottest topic there is in the labels industry at the moment – the potential of individually tagging every single item in the future will take RFID into markets where trillions of tags will be used over the next decade.”
