Pragatipack, a packaging converter based in Hyderabad, India, has installed an inline Omet Varyflex press for folding carton production.

Pragatipack, led by Narendra Paruchuri, is a family owned company that counts three generations within its ranks. The company won the Sappi Elephant award in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

The Omet Varyflex installed at Pragati is a UV flexo machine that allows the addition of rotogravure, cold foil and silkscreen units in every position of the press. The Varyflex’s configuration allows printing, reverse printing, foiling, overprinting, metalizing, relief printing and converting to be performed in one pass.

Pragati’s Hemanth Paruchuri said: ‘We're excited about the wide range of substrates that can be printed on the press, from 12 micron all the way up to 600. We're excited at what opportunities this will bring to the carton side of business. [The machine is] very versatile and there are a lot of avenues we can target.’

The sale of the press was handled by New Delhi-based Weldon Celloplast, Omet’s agent in India and the surrounding region. Pawandeep Sahni, director of Weldon Celloplast, said: ‘Pragati is a very serious printing company with exacting demands. It is a feather in our cap that a printer of such caliber has approved and bought the Omet Varyflex.’
