The two companies already have a working relationship, with Schmid Rhyner varnishes used on Steinemann’s digital embellishment units (DEU) integrated with the Gallus Labelfire 340 hybrid press.

Schmid Rhyner already had its diVar technology for digital refinement patented back in 2002. In 2011, Steinemann integrated this technology into its dmax off-line machine, which was introduced to the market in 2014. This system was supplemented with digital foil embossing (dfoil) in 2017.

Gallus recognized the advantages of this system and integrated the DEU into its Labelfire digital label printing platform. Gallus presented this for the first time in 2018. Following successful field tests, the module is now applied for industrial applications.

The framework agreement signed between Gallus and Schmid Rhyner at the beginning of May is intended to further the development of future-oriented digital options.

Austria’s Insignis-Etiketten is already using a Gallus Labelfire 340 with integrated DEU. Vienna-based Insignis was the first in Eastern Europe to install a Gallus Labelfire 340.
