Henkel is to host a number of webinars in the coming weeks as part of its 2018 Food Safe Packaging webinar series

April 11 will see a webinar staged presenting an ‘Introduction to Chinese regulations for food packaging’. At 09:00 and 14:00 CEST, Nini Lin, responsible for product safety and regulatory affairs at Henkel Adhesive Technologies Greater China, will deliver an overview of regulations in China. Henkel explained that China published 53 new national standards on food contact materials and articles at the end of 2016. Then the new China food contact material regulation system was established, and all the new regulations became effective from October 19, 2017. This demanded a system of new requirements on compliance with China’s regulations, such as GB9685-2016, which is using guidance and a positive list of additives for food contact materials. There’s also several separate standards on each material, such as plastics, coating, rubber and others. This webinar will provide a complete and systematic introduction and explanation on the new regulations, and implications of the changes.

On April 25, the topic ‘Mineral oil components in food packaging adhesives – essentials you need to consider’ will be presented by Dr Monika Toenniessen. This webinar will look at:

  • Mineral oils and their legislative background – which roles do mineral oils play in German and European legislations?;
  • Mineral oil hydrocarbons and food contamination – what is the risk of mineral oils coming into contact with food?; and
  • Sources of contamination – how is foodstuff contaminated and how can the migration of mineral oil hydrocarbons be prevented?

This webinar, at 09:00 and 16:00 CEST, will feature a 30-45 minute presentation, followed by a 15 minute Q&A session.

On May 16, Dr Andre Weiss will present on ‘Basics in migration analytics – adhesives in food packaging’.

In this interactive webinar, Weiss will explain what migration means and how does it occur. Another important topic will be the measurement and evaluation of migration. Furthermore, he will discuss which role adhesives play in migration.

This webinar will again take place at 09:00 and 16:00 CEST.
