Lecta publishes its new environmental report

In keeping with its commitment to sustainability, Lecta operates according to high environmental standards, guaranteeing innovative, safe and responsible products, the result of environment-friendly, responsible manufacturing processes.

‘Lecta continues to undergo a profound transformation towards a multiproduct offering aimed at meeting new market and consumer needs, increasingly sensitive to protecting the environment. However, the commitment to sustainability that has always defined our company has not changed. Growing environmental concern forces us to demand maximum responsibility in our business activity and production processes, optimizing our energy consumption, implementing new technology and securing new international certifications to continue guaranteeing innovative, safe and responsible products. This situation drives and motivates us in our search for new applications of a natural, renewable raw material whose possibilities and environmental advantages enable us to imagine a more sustainable and better future for all,’ said Eduqrdo Querol, CEO of Lecta.

The company effort and commitment are reflected in the environmental indicators contained in the report, the majority of which derive from each mill’s environmental declaration verified by an independent body prior to publication.

This is also reflected in the achievement of the goals and objectives set for this period, such as securing new food safety certifications, the recovery of nearly 100 percent of the sludge generated during the production process and the significant reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions.

Lecta is a multinational group with over 3,200 employees and seven modern mills in Spain, France and Italy. All its mills are certified to the environmental management standards (ISO 14001 and European EMAS), to ISO 50001 energy efficiency standards and to ISO 9001 quality certification, as well as OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standards.
