France-based EcoVadis has provided ratings on more than 90,000 companies since it was established in 2007. During the assessment process, EcoVardis considers four key themes, including carbon emissions, human rights and labor practices, ethical business conduct, and approach to sustainable procurement.

New Vision Packaging, which will also contest two awards at next month's UK Packaging Awards, including Entrepreneurial Business of the Year, can now count itself among the top 50 percent of companies surveyed.

Stephen Shortland, managing director at New Vision Packaging, said: ‘The environment and sustainability continue to play an integral role for New Vision Packaging. We have made a conscious effort to incorporate environmental, social, and governance best practices into the fabric of our organization. Our commitment to sustainability is not only demonstrated through our products but also modelled in our day-to-day operations and processes. To be recognized by the world's most trusted evaluator of sustainable business is testament to our continued efforts and is another example of our small team consistently punching above its weight in several areas.’

EcoVadis medallions are one of the most competitive sustainability awards, comprising 21 corporate social responsibility criteria and taking months to complete. Medals are awarded to just a small percentage of businesses across 200 industries and 160 countries.
