PalmPaper invests in Dienes equipment

Palm reached out to Dienes because its current knife holders did not offer the desired precision in the setting parameters; additionally, the edge cutting quality was lacking. The knives had a short service life. Dienes installed the DS8 DC (depth control) sheer knife holder with easy change. According to Dienes, the depth control measures ensure that the overlap depth of all knives is precisely set by using LED displays and the exact overlap depth is maintained after knives are replaced or re-grinded.

The ‘easy change’ feature allows for knife changes without any tools with 360-degree hand protection. This patented system is credited for increasing safety in production and significantly reducing set up times, according to Dienes. ‘The fast knife change and the clean-cut edges convinced us immediately,’ said Clemens Pflaum, machine operator at Palm paper mill.

Palm saw a quick return on investment due to the considerable reduction in set-up time.

‘With the DS 8 DC Easy Change knife holders, we have been able to increase the service life of our knives by a factor of three,’ said Frank Seidlitz, head of the plant at Palm.
