ProPhotonix extends Cobra Cure FX series

ProPhotonix, a high technology designer and manufacturer of LED illumination systems and laser diode modules, has extended its portfolio of UV LED curing systems with Cobra Cure FX2.

Cobra Cure FX2 is said to provided more intense UV curing critical to the printing industry

Cobra Cure FX2 is said to provided more intense UV curing critical to the printing industry, coatings industry, 3D printing and other applications.

Cobra Cure FX1, introduced in September 2015, produces a uniform line with a peak irradiance of 6W/sqcm and peak energy density (dose) of 5J/sqcm. Cobra Cure FX2 delivers intensities up to 8.4W/sqcm and energy densities up to 17.5J/sqcm.

Cobra Cure FX2 is scalable without any drop in intensity from module to module, and is designed to monitor and drive each LED segment providing consistent intensity control across the entire illumination area. Wavelength options include 365nm, 385nm, 395nm and 405nm configurations, as well as integrated multi-wavelength options.

Cobra Cure FX2 also includes a patent-pending field-replaceable window that requires no special tools which eliminates downtime while delivering consistent system output. ProPhotonix said that in certain operating environments, residue builds up on the emission window reducing the intensity of the light and causing a degradation of system performance.

Tim Losik, CEO and president of ProPhotonix, said: ‘FX2 adds to our broad range of UV LED products providing more illumination options for our customers. Estimates are that market demand for UV LED systems will grow at nearly 40 percent a year through 2019 to 500 million USD.’
