RKW Finland, a Finnish manufacturer of packaging films, has been awarded an EGP partnership certificate by Marvaco.

RKW Finland has successfully adopted EGP – expanded gamut printing – in collaboration with Marvaco and Siegwerk Finland

The company received the certificate, in September 2018, in recognition of its successful implementation of a greener and more flexible flexography process.

RKW Finland has successfully adopted EGP – expanded gamut printing – in collaboration with Marvaco and Siegwerk Finland.

EGP technology is said to enable high-quality, efficient and more ecological printing without manually mixed inks. Predictable and precise brand colors are achieved through digitally assisted ink mixing. The color gamut is enriched with additional OGV inks, which more than doubles the number of color shades compared to the Pantone+ color series and allows clean implementation of bright shades. With EGP’s digital color mixing, the brand colors that have been restricted by the CMYK method in the past can be implemented in a more extensive, more controlled and more precise manner, batch after batch, according to Marvaco.

Further advantages cited of EGP technology include the co-printing of different motives at the same time.

The introduction of expanded color gamut to packaging printing, implemented by Marvaco and its American strategic partner company, CSW Graphics, has advanced to the stage of awarding partnership certificates to printing companies. In the certification, the printing companies’ use of the EGP technology is tested and evaluated based on various packaging jobs implemented with process inks.
