As one of the leaders in packaging, Sonoco is committed to the goals of sustainable development by acting responsibly toward resource management and use. The company’s achievement is another milestone accomplished in the Asia market and part of its growing efforts to promote sustainability.

‘At Sonoco, we believe People Build Businesses by Doing the Right Thing. This principle guides all our actions, and we take proactive steps to lessen our impact on the environment,’ said the company in a statement. ‘We serve as a valued partner to our corporate customers and help them reduce the environmental impact of their packaging, as well as waste to landfill for their facilities.’

A certification label on a forest product informs potential buyers that the product was produced in a well-managed forest in accordance with a given set of standards. According to Sonoco, in today’s retail market, consumers concerned about social and environmental issues often give preference to products carrying such a label.

FSC Certification continues to solidify Sonoco’s practices in employing sustainable forestation to meet the needs of the present without compromising future generation’s quality of life. Moreover, Sonoco uses recycled fibers in a significant amount of its packaging to further reduce the amount of wood fiber entering the waste stream.
