Tharstern to launch cloud-based MIS for label sector

Tharstern has been preparing for the launch of its new cloud MIS developed specifically for the label sector. The details will be revealed during a virtual event on July 27; however, the company hints at features beyond typical MIS technology scope.

Tharstern has been preparing for the launch of its new cloud MIS developed specifically for the label sector

Tharstern Cloud will initially be available to label converters only, though, in the future, the product will evolve into other areas such as large format, commercial, and packaging.

‘We’ve built the brains in Tharstern Cloud to be sector neutral,’ says Keith McMurtie, CEO of Tharstern. ‘The approach we’ve taken means we can easily teach the brain of Tharstern Cloud to understand production processes in all print disciplines. In the coming months, we’ll be evolving the MIS to support all types of print.’

The company decided to create the new product three years ago when the need for additional functionality arose for its label customers.

‘Instead of adding this functionality into the current product, we saw an opportunity to start building a new cloud-based platform for the future generation of Tharstern MIS across all sectors,’ added McMurtrie.

The company hired an additional team to work on the new product, separating the two development streams. This meant it could develop the current technology in tandem with the cloud product and give its customers the option to choose between the two in the future.

‘Other than the sharing of knowledge and experience, these two streams are completely independent of one another,’ said McMurtrie. ‘So, while the new development team works on the label product, our existing development team will continue to evolve and enhance the Tharstern MIS, responding to the needs of our customers and the market and producing new tools and functionality.’

Tharstern says that the new cloud product is different from its previous MIS technology.

‘We don’t want to say too much at this stage, but we believe the connectivity and technology behind Tharstern Cloud are unparalleled, and there are some exciting features that are beyond the typical scope of an MIS solution. I’m very excited to reveal all at the launch event,’ concluded McMurtrie.

The official launch of Tharstern Cloud will take place on July 27, 2021, at 3 pm BST. The registration is now open at www.tharstern.com/launch.
