TLMI Announces virtual printTHINK webinar series about different aspects of label printing production

The printTHINK Series, an extension of the association’s printTHINK technical forum, will kick off on June 23, 2020 and continue fortnightly. TLMI members will have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in areas including tapes, inks, substrates, materials, tooling, automation and digital print advancements. All supplier member participants are 2020 Platinum and Gold Sponsors of the association.

The first webinar in the series will feature TLMI member Anderson & Vreeland discussing an overview of process optimization. Series webinar dates and topics for the coming months are as follows:

The association will feature a second series in September that will focus on automation and innovation, featuring association members Nilpeter, Heidelberg/Gallus Group, Epson, Xeikon, HP and Domino. More details and dates for the second series will be announced later this summer.

In developing the Technical Webinar Series, TLMI worked closely with industry veteran and consultant, Doug Bartlett, who commented: “During this time of so many people working from home and minimizing business travel, TLMI wanted to create a way to provide the association’s members with an educational technical resource they could access from anywhere. We wanted to start with optimization because it’s such a critical piece of the label-printing production process, but so many companies aren’t even sure what the term encompasses.

‘What exactly does being “optimized” look like? Commonly, if a company doesn’t understand the intricacies of color management, they might think of optimization as just the production process itself. But you can’t effectively manage color until you have an optimization process in place. Our goal is to present a clear view of exactly what optimization looks like, explaining in detail what it is, why converters need to do it and what to look for to make sure they’re truly optimized in the key areas,’ concluded Bartlett.
