Watershed invests in new equipment and moves headquarters

Irish converter Watershed Group has just completed a 3m EUR (3.3m USD) investment that included a move to new headquarters and the installation of another Mark Andy flexo press.

The new location in Dublin doubled the operational space for Watershed Group and is seen as a key part of the 30m EUR (33.1m USD) revenue target the converter is hoping to achieve in the next two years.

The latest machinery investment added the seventh Mark Andy P5E flexo press, the Digital Series inkjet hybrid press based on the modular P7E platform, and two Rotoflex HSI pharmaceutical-standard inspection rewinders, fitted with Eye-C technology.

‘We know how good Mark Andy flexo quality is, so the commercial possibilities and cost saving benefits of combining flexo with the flexibility of digital inkjet in one press was too tempting to resist. The digital quality matches the flexo, and if need be, we can bypass the digital engine and run the press all flexo,' said Patrick Murphy, director at Watershed.

Moreover, the Group plans to install the first Vivo Color Solutions system in Ireland to increase productivity and reduce waste. With more business acquisitions planned for 2019, Watershed is also looking at the greater European scene for opportunities to grow and diversify its portfolio.
