Belona as one of the early adopters of the linerless technology in the Dutch market, purchased its first production line six years ago. Due to the fast growing demand for high quality linerless labels, Belona has now expanded its production capacity with the second production line from Maan Engineering.

‘Quality is the starting point for us, something that is not always common in the market,’ said Robert Bongertman, commercial director at Belona commenting on the recent installation.

Belona produces linerless labels and self-adhesive labels without backing resulting in avoiding any labeling waste production and contributing to a material saving of more than 50 percent when compared with traditional methods.

Moreover, linerless labels contribute to increasing the sustainability angle across the entire packaging supply chain. Converters are able to produce more labels from the same roll size and the variable label length enables space savings as only one size needs to be stocked. Further down the chain, more labels per shipment means multiple savings in transport, waste and carbon footprint.

Belona introduced the linerless labels to the Dutch market in 2014 and since then won the sustainability award and became runner-up for a NL Packaging Award in the sustainability category.
