Over the last 50 years, KDV has built a model of efficiency and service that is second to none in flexographic label printing. The label converter has successfully translated these core differentiators to high-speed digital printing with the installation of the Durst Tau RSCi press.

KDV completed an assessment of digital presses before deciding on the Durst Tau RSCi. The company analyzed speed, cost of operation, uptime and, of course, quality and consistency of print. This evaluation included rigorous testing to ensure customer expectations would be met, if not exceeded, in every factor from lead time to color-matching to pricing.

The Tau RSCi was the leader with 1,200 DPI print quality, up to 262 feet per minute speeds, and added features to guarantee exceptional labels every time in the most economical way.

Durst's service and support team was another deciding factor. The manufacturer was able to provide insight and real-world examples of how its presses replicate the same wow-factor the KDV’s flexographic operation provides.

KDV’s Durst Tau RSCi is a 17-inch, UV inkjet printer designed for mid- to long-run jobs. Additionally, KDV sees the opportunity to run short-run jobs more economically. The workhorse machine is equipped with a chill roller and jumbo winders to sustain quality at high speeds.

‘We were looking for a high-speed digital press to fit with the efficiencies in production we’ve developed over the past five decades,’ said Ken Robinson, vice president of operations at KDV. ‘The Durst RSCi checked all the boxes and not only fits, but enhances our production model and the way we can serve customers.’

Steve Lynn, director of labels and packaging sales at Durst North America commented: ‘The partnership between KDV and Durst exemplifies the desire for innovation and digital advancement in the label market. KDV is a renowned converter in the industry, and having just won the 2023 Eugene Singer Award, is on the leading end of evolution and excellence. We are proud to partner with KDV and look forward to our future together.’

‘KDV will continue to invest in technology to ensure delivering the highest quality labels and unrivaled service levels to our customers,' added Keith Walz, KDV president and CEO. ‘This is what makes us KDV. We have pent up demand for these capabilities and will continue to build our team and fleet of presses to meet customer demand.’
