Soligie and Blue Spark collaborate for printed flexible batteries

Soligie, a designer and manufacturer of printed electronics, and Blue Spark Technologies, a developer of flexible, printed power source solutions, have entered into an agreement for the joint market development of Blue Spark’s thin battery technology and Soligie’s printed electronics capabilities. The companies anticipate that this agreement will lead to a manufacturing collaboration for roll-to-roll volume production of Blue Spark batteries.
Printed electronics are increasingly utilized in product innovations including interactive product labels with iconic displays, smart medical patches, functional electronic devices, sensors, and radio frequency (RF)-enabled tags. Many of these products need a safe, affordable and eco-friendly power source.
Gary R. Johnson, president and CEO of Blue Spark, said: ‘Making the exciting new technologies of printed electronics more broadly known, convenient and rapidly available to systems developers is essential to realizing the game-changing potential of printing to the electronics industry. Adding the broad systems development and manufacturing strengths of Soligie to Blue Spark’s market development initiatives opens up exciting new paths to integrate Blue Spark battery technology into innovations of huge market potential.’
Matt Timm, president of Soligie, commented: ‘Soligie is excited about working with Blue Spark to develop the many market opportunities for a robust, thin and flexible power source. By integrating Blue Spark’s patented power technology into Soligie’s growing toolbox of printed electronics technologies, functional and flexible smart products such as labels, medical patches, security and access cards can become a reality in high volumes.’
