For the second time, IST (UK) Ltd has been honored with an Environmental Award for its MBS-5 UV lamp module.

The award ceremony was held in Leeds, UK and the event was sponsored by leading companies in the flexo industry. Judging of the entries was carried out by a panel of ten experts in flexographic printing and converting across a range of categories and classifications.

The ‘Cash in Waste’ Award was newly introduced to honor the companies of the industry that are contributing most to saving of resources and reduction of waste. Aimed at concentrating converters’ minds on combining care for the environment with an efficient operation that pays off, the award was sponsored by a leading magazine for the converting and packaging printing industry.

The organizer’s decision to introduce this new environmental category echoes the industry’s endeavour to create a production environment which uses resources as sparingly as possible. It is a known fact that today’s printing industry is faced with rising operating costs, but the profitability of the sector will even further erode once the imminent increase in the level of corporation tax payable by smaller firms will be put into effect.

Energy-saving UV lamp modules, such as the MBS-5 system, can be significant in helping printers to curb their excessive costs. IST’s most recent UV system incorporates the latest innovations in UV technology and provides maximum efficiency in all aspects of the UV curing process – achieving a substantial reduction in the overall operating cost.

Finally, the purchase costs of the system are kept comparatively low, to support printers in light of the imminent reduction in capital allowances for those who invest in equipment and buildings.
