K2 Flexo installs fourth press at Turkish converter

K2 International has installed a fourth flexographic printing press at packaging contractors Toros Ambalaj Sanayi in Turkey. The 3 Series 410mm wide, 6-color machine will be used to meet increased capacity for fruit packaging and joins three existing K2 press installations at the company’s location in Mercin.
‘We have been working with K2 International for eight years and have standardized our printing operation with this manufacturer’s presses,’ said vice president Sahir Carilli. ‘This brings a number of benefits including reduced costs for spare parts from one manufacturer rather than say from four different ones. In addition, if one of our operators is absent it is easy for another to operate his machine without impacting on production schedules.’
‘Our presses are equipped with PLC controls for greater reliability and are designed with print and die stations at the same height for ease of use and operator safety,’ said K2 International’s managing director Russell Oddy. ‘The Series 3 model has a floor standing large die-cutting station equipped with two product label rewinds. The presses print on very thin, tissue like paper for citrus fruits and this is quite difficult material for some flexo presses, but ours do the job successfully. We are delighted that Toros Ambalaj Sanayi has re- invested in the design and reliability of our equipment and our two companies have developed a strong sense of partnership. We see this as a key factor in winning and keeping business away from our competitors.’
