A KDO six-color flexographic printing machine, manufactured by K2, is helping a UK label company to improve its productivity and boost its capacity to handle more contracts.

Willowbridge Labels, based at Rougham Industrial Estate, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, UK, and part of the Denny Bros Group, has ‘enhanced its job quality and turnaround times thanks to a purchase of a KDO 3 Series press,’ according to a statement.

The 3 Series, the second KDO machine in use at Willowbridge’s factory, is being used to produce a wide variety of labels for customers who include well-known names in the food, retail and pharmaceutical sectors.

The KDO 3 Series, made at K2’s factory in Worcestershire, boasts a range of features such as full automatic web tension control, large capacity die unit, a pair of 2000m product roll capacity rewinders and an end-of-roll detection facility with auto press stop.

It also includes anilox rollers, produced in-house by K2 on leading-edge computerized machine tools, and custom-made print cylinders which both incorporate the very latest KDO quick release and changeover features.

In addition, the KDO machine contains a laminate and cold foil station for specialist label applications, which is a growing market for Willowbridge in addition to its established core business of bespoke plain and printed self-adhesive labels.

‘We chose a KDO machine not only because K2 produce quality presses at competitive prices but also for its excellent levels of customer service and technical support. It is also very compact in size for such a versatile and full specification,’ explained Karl Seeley, Willowbridge’s managing director.

‘The new machine not only means Willowbridge has extra capacity for more contacts but also ensure faster job turnaround times and an even higher quality of labels. The installation and commissioning process went smoothly and I’m extremely pleased with every aspect of the service from K2,’ he added.
