Labelexpo India attracts record number of visitors

Tarsus Group, the organizer of the Labelexpo Global Series, has announced that Labelexpo India 2012, in New Delhi, attracted a record 8,049 visitors, a 33 percent increase from the previous show in 2010. Many of the exhibitors upgraded their space and a 53 percent rebook was achieved.
Mike Fairley, director of strategic development, Tarsus Group, commented, 'The label industry in India has made significant advances in technology, quality and performance since the first Labelexpo India show in 2008. This has been significantly enhanced through the efforts of the LMAI, which has grown its membership from 40 to 140 companies within that period. It has also instituted the Label Awards events and integrated these into the international Label Awards scheme, run globally by the nine regional label associations.'
He continued, 'Label printers today are investing in the highest levels of technology and are now attaining some of the best quality performance seen anywhere in the world. It has been impressive to see just what has been achieved, but this is probably still only a small step forward in what the Indian label industry will achieve over the next four to six years.'
Exhibitors reported excellent business at the show, with Nilpeter and Mark Andy both selling two machines and Epson also reporting good sales. Jacob Landberg, sales and marketing director, Nilpeter, said, 'India has tremendous potential to be one of the fastest growing markets in the world'.
Roger Pellow, managing director, Labelexpo Global Series, commented, 'The market here in India is now gearing up to take off. In the next two years there will be huge opportunity for labels and packaging, and this will be accelerated by FDI. Numerous printers were asking about digital technologies and there was a real buzz at the show, with everybody talking about investing, innovating and growing.'
