Labels & Labeling is delighted to introduce a new addition to the website – the online bookshop.

The Labels & Labeling bookshop brings together some of the best publications in the industry. Written by industry leaders, the focus is on detailed technical or practical business information, helping you to train staff, look for new opportunities and ensure you are up to date with the very latest technology.

Titles include The Encyclopedia of Labels and Label Technology; RFID Smart Labels – a ‘How to’ guide for the label converter; and market surveys & analysis of label converting in North America, South America, and Japan.

The Encyclopedia of Labels and Label Technology

The Encyclopedia of Labels and Label Technology, written by label expert Michael Fairley, is the first and only book of its kind for the label, product decoration, web printing and converting industry. It is an easy-to-use global reference guide, which, according to Laura Moutin, global buyer for Unilever, is ‘a comprehensive resource to de-mystify the jargon’.

RFID Smart Labels a 'How to' guide

RFID Smart Labels – a ‘How to’ guide, also written by Michael Fairley, brings together the combined knowledge of some of the world’s leading RFID smart label experts. It provides a comprehensive guide to understanding the basics of RFID and to review the structure of RFID chips, straps and antenna; how inlays are assembled; the printing of antenna with conductive inks; techniques and methods of integrating inlays into pressure-sensitive label constructions; and the attaching of straps to printed antenna – as well as issues of quality control and performance.

Compiled and edited from the speaker presentations at the original Smart Label Masterclasses held in Baltimore in June 2005, the 80 page ‘How to’ book is comprehensively illustrated with over 60 diagrams, tables and pictures and aims to provide a convenient reference source for label converters looking to enter the world of RFID enabled labels.

Label converting surveys

The label converting surveys were introduced two years ago to help label converters and suppliers understand the differences between the established and growth label markets, the technology and materials trends by region, label industry growth and performance patterns, understand the markets and applications for labels and look at the opportunities and barriers for future growth. Chapters in each survey include: market and economic trends, types of products manufactured, technologies and materials used, product and customer base, future growth, and industry requirements to stimulate growth.
