Clarifoil benefits from renewed biodegradability certifications
Clarifoil is positioning itself to take advantage of impending legislation with the re-certification of its materials for biodegradability.
Clarifoil marketing manager Marion Bauer said: ‘As the 2012 date approaches for companies in the EU to comply with the packaging producer responsibility obligations, there remains some confusion in the market as to definitions of biodegradability and compostability. We are delighted to have received renewal of the proof that Clarifoil satisfies consumer expectations and legislative criteria.’
Two globally recognized accreditations assure customers throughout the supply chain that Clarifoil biodegrades in industrial organic recycling waste-to-compost processing systems: biodegradability certifications EN 13432 and ASTM D 6400.
Clarifoil also has Vincotte OK Home Compost accreditation which certifies that Clarifoil will biodegrade in typical home garden compost conditions.
Clarifoil is approved for direct contact with food and is naturally moisture permeable, helping to prevent spoilage of food products. Clarifoil films are also available in a wide range of thicknesses down to 14 micron, enabling packaging specifiers to minimize weight.
