Fox Valley Technical College will offer various training seminars for the flexographic industry during 2009. Its seminars, customized training, product testing, trials and on-site training programs are a fit for new employees, experienced press operators and technicians, sales and customer service teams and more.


Participants will learn on the very latest in flexo technology including wide and narrow web presses and plating equipment. Millions of dollars of printing technology is housed under one roof and located in the heart of Wisconsin’s paper and printing industry.


A variety of seminars are offered that combine lecture, demonstrations and hands-on machinery operation in various subject areas. So not only will attendees see jobs run, they’ll also learn about all the tools that go into it, how to dissect it, and how to rebuild it with different components.


Wide Web Training Seminars

FVTC offers this 3-day, hands-on seminar to employees with one year of experience as either a platemounter, press assistant or a wide-web press operator. Students will participate in the mounting and or printing of both a 2-color line and screen and a four-color process combination job for the flexographic printing process.


Narrow Web Press Operation

New or seasoned narrow web flexo operators who want to sharpen their skills; press supervisors; production coordinators; sales people; technicians; designers; and sales service personnel – all will benefit from the intensive, hands-on learning experience.


This 3-day seminar provides the basic information necessary for the production of quality narrow web printing. Participants take part in demonstrations and operation of machinery in the various subject areas along with classroom lectures. Topics covered include flexographic art and copy, line, tone and process printing, pre-press functions, plates, press components and operation, anilox rolls, substrates, inks, solvents, inline converting and troubleshooting.

This 3-1/2 day seminar provides the basic information necessary for the production of quality flexographic printing. Instruction will consist of lectures, demonstrations, field trips and actual operation of machinery in the various subject areas.

It is ideal for new production employees, people wishing to move up to a press operator position, customer service, technical sales, converting machine operators, maintenance mechanics and ink technicians.

Achieving Consistency in Process Printing

Offered in partnership by Fox Valley Technical College & Flexographic Technical Association, this seminar deals with concepts and tools involved in the production of high quality repeatable process printing. The seminar includes lectures, demonstrations, a field trip, and the actual printing of a 4-color process job to Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications & Tolerances (FIRST) specifications on an 8-color central impression gearless press.
