UK-based Leicester College is opening its doors to showcase its training to help businesses succeed in print, packaging, graphic design and lean manufacturing.

The Leicester College Print Department Open Evening takes place on Tuesday 6 December 2011 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm at St Margaret’s Campus.

‘This event will give businesses the opportunity to view our first-class facilities, learn how to reduce production costs and enroll on our industry-specific training,’ said Oliver Whitbread, business delivery manager of the Creative Arts and Media Department.

‘Training is conducted using our state-of-the-art in-house facilities which have been sponsored by Canon, Heidelberg and Duplo. We also provide a full apprenticeship recruitment service at no cost whatsoever.’

There are more than 40 courses on offer which can also be customized for individual businesses with flexible start dates and delivery times.

In press and packaging, the college offers a range of pre-press, press and print finishing courses which focus on specific industry needs, including litho, flexo, digital and screen printing, cutting and creasing, gluing and folding, and carton manufacture.

Apprentices are trained to edit and create artwork and use CTP systems with the latest industry standard software. There are also trained in print administration including costing, estimating and key account management.

Lean manufacturing courses are designed to help reduce wastage, make readies and machine down time which could streamline businesses and increase efficiency.

Throughout the evening there will be free 15-minute seminars on apprenticeships, color management and lean manufacturing.
