MPS hosts UK open house

MPS UK demonstrated its EF printing press at an open house at its new facility in Wigan on March 9-10. The event was attended by over 40 different companies from throughout the UK and Ireland and was supported by GEW, Flint Inks, Cheshire Engraving, Fasson and Rossini UK.

The event showcased the first MPS press to be installed in the UK with the company’s new Automated Print Control (APC) technology. The machine, a 7-color EF with 16in web width, is equipped with the short web path design featured in all MPS presses.

During demonstrations, the press ran both self-adhesive and BOPP materials. Various jobs running on different repeat sleeves were Bluetoothed to the press via an iPad and printed using previously saved data from the job memory, thereby reducing both set up time and waste. The iPad was raffled at the end of the event and won by Dan Gorfin of Exeter-based James Townsend and Sons.

The machine has been installed at Watershed Packaging, based in Leeds, and is now in full production.
