The judging was concluded on April 11, with nearly 1,000 print entries from companies in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. The GEA competition is one of the largest printing competitions in the nation.

Each entry was judged on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, finishing, bindery and overall visual impact.

Winning companies are honored each year at the GEA Celebration, which took place on June 19 at Lake Lawn Resort, Delevan, Wisconsin.

IL&P received one Best of Category award for a series of Pipeworks Brewing labels and also received three Awards of Excellence for two Pipeworks Brewery labels and one 18th Street Brewery label.

The Best of Category winner is automatically entered into the Printing Industries of America (PIA) national Premier Print Awards competition, with the winners to be announced later this summer.

The winning labels were produced using a Nilpeter FA3 combination UV Flexo/Caslon digital press.

‘We are very proud of our entire team,’ said Mark Turk, president and chief executive officer of IL&P. ‘To have been recognized by the GLGA is a tremendous honor and is a nice reflection of the hard work our people put into their jobs every day.’
