Latin America Summit attracts 650
Following the success of the inaugural Latin American Label Summit in Mexico City last week, the Tarsus Group has announced its next Latin America Summit in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 17-18th May 2005.
The Mexico event, organised by Tarsus’ Labelexpo organisation and supported by Labels & Labeling and Conversion magazines, attracted 651 conference delegates. Taken together with journalists and exhibitors, the total attendance was well over 800, which was far higher than Tarsus’ initial estimates.
Labels & Labeling’s Mike Fairley and Andy Thomas chaired the two-day conference, where delegates heard about the latest developments in both the Latin American and the global label industry, including the first public presentation of an on-line survey of regional label printers. A new system for transparent holograms applied via cold foil combined with security inks was unveiled for the first time by Amagic. Other topics discussed included the latest developments in pressure sensitive film labelstocks, digital printing; inks, package decoration trends, press technology, product security and RFID.
Alongside the conference were information booths from leading industry suppliers, with one press manufacturer reporting the sale of a number of machines on-site.
Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, commented, ‘Our feedback is that we are really opening up the world with our new Label Summits, and creating both learning and business opportunities for the industry - especially in emerging markets. In addition, the Label Summits are great opportunities for us to promote our larger machinery shows in the USA, Europe, China, and Singapore to the visitors. We are now very much looking forward to the European Label Summit in Prague, The Czech Republic, in October.’
The Latin America Label Summit will return to Mexico City in 2006
