FIG press conference at Loupe India

Flexo Image Graphics (FIG) brought together its leadership and international technology partners for a press conference at Loupe India 2026. Held at hall 11, stall L1, India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, the interaction provided a platform to discuss the production requirements and investment priorities of Indian label converters.

The speaker line-up included representatives from Mark Andy, Rhyguan, Luster, DCM ATN and Xsys, alongside FIG managing director Gourav Roy. Together, the participating companies represented different stages of the label production workflow, from prepress and printing to inspection, finishing and converting.

'Label converters need technology that meets today’s production requirements while supporting their next stage of growth,' said Gourav Roy, managing director of FIG. 'Bringing our international partners together creates an opportunity for customers to discuss their applications directly with the people behind these solutions. FIG’s role is to connect that expertise with local understanding and technical support.'

The gathering placed attention on the relationship between equipment capability and the wider production environment. For converters evaluating investments, considerations extend beyond individual machine specifications to job mix, workflow compatibility, operator skills, service and opportunities for future expansion.

'Choosing a printing platform starts with understanding the converter’s applications and business objectives,' said Florian Stroe, sales manager at Mark Andy. 'The conversation should cover print quality, production flexibility, job changes and the ability to take on new work. Direct engagement helps us understand those priorities and discuss an appropriate technology path.'

Finishing and converting formed another part of the discussion, reflecting the importance of matching downstream capacity with printing output.

'Finishing capability needs to develop alongside printing capacity,' said Happy Cao, export manager, Zhejiang Rhyguan Machinery. 'Understanding the customer’s substrates, job lengths and delivery requirements helps identify the right configuration. Our objective is to help converters assess solutions that fit their production needs and provide room for growth.'

Inspection was represented by Luster’s Industrial Vision System business unit, with attention to the role of quality control within label production.

'Inspection becomes most useful when it forms part of the production workflow,' said Jenifer Yuan, international sales manager, Luster LightTech, Industrial Vision System BU. 'Converters need to consider how defects are identified, how operators respond and how inspection information supports corrective action. Application discussions are essential to defining the right approach.'

'Working closely with customers and local partners helps connect inspection technology with actual factory requirements,' said Carrie Duan, international business director, Luster LightTech, Industrial Vision System BU. 'We see value in understanding each converter’s quality expectations, production processes and team capabilities before recommending a solution.'

The interaction also provided an opportunity to consider how converting investments can support consistent output across a changing mix of jobs.

'A converting investment should be evaluated in the context of the complete production process,' said Jason Elvery, area sales manager – Asia, DCM ATN. 'Material handling, changeovers, operating requirements and downstream output all matter. These conversations help converters look beyond headline specifications and assess how equipment will work in their own environment.'

Prepress representatives highlighted the importance of considering plate technology and process control alongside pressroom investment.

'Consistent print production begins before the job reaches the press,' said Roy Schoettle, vice president sales APAC, Xsys Thailand. 'Plate selection and preparation need to be considered alongside the substrate, ink system and printing conditions. A coordinated approach across these stages gives converters a stronger basis for repeatable production.'

'For converters in South Asia, technical guidance and practical application support are important parts of technology adoption,' said Prasenjit Das, general manager, Xsys–South Asia. 'Working with customers to understand their production conditions helps identify process improvements and build the skills needed to sustain them.'

The press conference reflected FIG’s approach to bringing suppliers and converters into a shared conversation about production needs. The presence of international representatives alongside the Indian team offered opportunities to discuss applications, evaluate technology options and consider how different systems can work together.
