The winner of the FTA Technical Innovation Award 2006 is RFID Solutions by Mark Andy, Inc. On April 30, Mark Andy was awarded one of the industry’s highest technical honors for their successful innovation and solutions that support RFID.

‘Proven and effective RFID solutions are going to be the key for converters to be successful as they enter the RFID label marketplace.  We are honored to be recognized as a leader in these solutions and take a lot of pride in being the first flexo machine manufacturer to achieve such success in producing RFID enabled labels,’ stated Paul Brauss, president of Mark Andy, Inc.

Mark Andy has invested countless man hours and financial dollars in pursuing the solutions a converter will need to be successful and highly competitive in the RFID space. The company offers successful options by incorporating best RFID manufacturing, insertion and verification technologies in-line on their narrow web printing and converting equipment. The company is driving on the forefront of narrow-web, RFID-enabled production, and has already surpassed many learning curves along the way.

This process is extremely dynamic and Mark Andy R&D has conquered the understanding of a plethora of technologies, including:

• RFID tag and transponder technology
• Reading and writing devices
• Antenna and radio wave technologies
• Quality and damage control
• Precision transponder placement
• Global RFID regulations and market drivers

By creating a solid knowledge base by which to establish the technology for RFID enabled labels, Mark Andy then integrated into their existing knowledge base of conventional flexo printing and converting.

RFID solutions by Mark Andy are installed throughout the market today. A variety of solutions are available for new press designs and some retrofit designs. The FTA Technical Innovation award reinforces the company’s leading innovation for the narrow web industry.
