Muehlbauer opens production site in Malaysia

The Muehlbauer technology group, international and independent consultant and manufacturer of security solutions, has opened its first production location outside Germany in Melaka, Malaysia.

More than 10 years ago, Muehlbauer opened the office in Melaka as its first subsidiary in Asia. In order to serve the Asian area even faster and better, Muehlbauer has decided to open its first production location outside Germany in Melaka. The commitment in Malaysia is seen as an additional enhancement and complement to the German locations.

The company celebrated the official opening of the location on May 7 2007.

‘The close connection as well as the enormous potentials in this country prompted us to this step. It is our goal to strengthen our presence not only in Malaysia but in the whole Asian region. For Muehlbauer, this step is once again a confirmation of our commitment for the country and the whole Asian area,’ said Josef Muehlbauer, CEO of Muehlbauer AG.

Currently, more than 60 highly trained Malaysian employees are already working in the site in Melaka in the divisions of research, development, and assembly, as well as in service and in sales.

The company has also reported that first orders have already been taken at the new site. Chinese company Solid Packaging Technology, based in Shanghai, has ordered 14 machines (three different models). One of the models, the CT 8/24 rotary machine for bare dice, will be assembled locally in Melaka.
