Brady has announced the availability of its second generation EPREP labels, designed to replace engraved and plotted plates for the identification of electrical components, electrical cabinets, push-buttons and signal lights. This new material (B-7593), developed by Brady, offers improved print quality and durability, says the company.

The company said in a statement: ‘Printed labels offer a fast, cost-effective and flexible alternative to engraved plates. Printing is instantaneous and can be done in-house, thereby erasing the need to pre-order and arrange delivery, or to repeat the whole cycle should mistakes occur. EPREP is a lower-priced solution than engraved plates and gives the ability to print labels quickly, allowing immediate error-correction, and negating the need to keep a stock of pre-engraved plates on-site. The Labelmark 3V software adds to the flexibility of the material with ready-made templates included and the ability to serialize labels. Printed labels are particularly applicable for use within manufacturing plants and also for machine builders and electrical panel builders, the latter being “heavy” users of engraved plates.

‘B-7593 is a 650m thick three layer polyester material. Thanks to the hard-tack acrylic adhesive it is ideal for uneven surfaces. The material is THT printable with BP Precision, BP-THT-2461, BP-THT-3481, MVP and TLS2200/PC Link printers, and the top-coat provides excellent print quality and a glossy finish that gives a more professional look, resembling engraved plates. B-7593 feels more like an engraved plate because of the rigidity, which also stops banding when the label is removed from the liner.

‘B-7593 is designed to be rugged, with a good resistance to scratching, smearing and rubbing, and also to chemical threats like alcohols, diesel and oils. Four different colors are available; white, silver, black and yellow, which give an improved UV and QUV resistance to fading.’

The labels are available immediately and a number of support tools have been provided. Informational materials include a technical datasheet, a sample bag, a sample roll for demonstration purposes and a sell sheet.
