Agfa Graphics’ Dotrix Modular adds in-line sheet cutting

At Labelexpo Europe, Agfa Graphics shared floor space with the UK-based flexo press manufacturer Edale as part of the new alliance between the companies. As a result of the partnership, Agfa Graphics and Edale have developed an inline converting cutter module, offered as an optional module to the :Dotrix Modular single pass UV press.

The SPICE (Single Pass Inkjet Color Engine) of the :Dotrix Modular is integrated on the industrial base which builds on Edale's expertise in narrow and medium flexo web press design. Hence :Dotrix users have access to all on- and off-line converting equipment
that is compatible with traditional flexo presses. The new in-line cutter by Edale was specially designed for the :Dotrix. It allows for automated cut position information transfer between the :Dotrix imaging software and the cutting device. This hands-free configuration reduces set-up time between jobs: the cutter device interprets job length variations (even within the job) without the need to stop production.

First installations of the :Dotrix in-line converting feature are expected later this year.
