Ashe Converting Equipment has launched its 3 Spindle entry-level turret rewinder, part of the company’s Opal Series, at Labelexpo Americas 2012.

The system can operate inline with any form of existing production process, allowing non-stop roll form finishing of self-adhesive labels. It uses hotmelt gluing technology to apply the material lanes to cores as well as closing the tails of the completed reels to be automatically offloaded out of the machine for packing.

The system offers minimal set-up time for the operator. Simon Godbold, sales manager, told L&L that the turret rewinder has received a great deal of interest from visitors to the company’s stand at the show. ‘They have been impressed by the simplicity of the machine,’ he said. ‘It is a great advantage that it can be easily run by any kind of operator.’

Minimal operator set-up time is achieved by altering the turret position automatically to the core size to be run, rather than having to change all the mechanical aspects of glue bath and bump cut assemblies. Direct motor drives to each of the three rewind positions allow for smooth running with no clutch driven assemblies to be maintained or replaced at any time.

The special tension control, as well as the lightweight design of the bump knife to cut the material at line speed, gives this entry level, high speed finishing machine benefits to increase single pass label production outputs.
