Avery Dennison has added three new designs of popular NFC inlays featuring the new ST25TN chip from STMicroelectronics

The new designs for AD Circus NFC ST25TN, AD Minitrack NFC ST25TN and AD Midas+ NFC ST25TN inlays and tags feature chips supplied by STMicroelectronics and complement the existing portfolio. Avery Dennison will also be expanding its HF offering with ICs from STMicroelectronics soon.

The partnership with STMicroelectronics enables Avery Dennison to expand its NFC portfolio using the ST25TN chips and offer customers several user memory options for different applications. NFC products allow brands to establish a direct communication channel with consumers and by leveraging Avery Dennison’s connected product cloud, atma.io, these experiences can be targeted, context-dependent and personalized for deeper engagement.

ST25TN chips are all fully NFC Forum ‘type 2’ and ISO 14443 ‘type A’ compliant, and incorporate the TruST25 feature to aid in the fight against counterfeiting. Memory options range from a minimum of 512 bits (ST25TN512) up to 1664 bits (ST25TN01K), and the chips support Augmented NDEF (NFC data exchange format) to answer dynamic NDEF messages without modifying the memory. These ICs are also robust, capable of 100,000 write cycles at 85°C.

‘STMicroelectronics has combined its long-term semiconductor manufacturing experience of EEPROM memories together with its extensive expertise in the RF domain to bring our ST25 NFC tags to the market,’ commented Mohamed Ghassen Ncibi, technical marketing engineer for NFC/RFID at STMicroelectronics. ‘They are robust NFC tag ICs with various memory capacities, solid data protection and a reliable supply chain. The ST25 NFC portfolio will contribute to more connected, smart and sustainable objects in several segments such as healthcare, packaging, consumer and beyond.’

Avery Dennison’s global senior manager for product line management, Matti Tavilampi, added: ‘We are very pleased to be able to offer STMicroelectronics-based versions of our popular AD Circus NFC, AD Minitrack NFC and AD Midas+ NFC inlays. Expanding our portfolio provides customers with more flexibility over their product choices and offers a wider choice of memory options to satisfy the growing demand for innovative customer experience and other applications.’

AD Circus NFC ST25TN, Minitrack NFC ST25TN and Midas+ NFC ST25TN inlays are now available globally in high volumes.

All Avery Dennison inlays are compliant with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management, which ensure a reliable and state-of-the-art product that meets a variety of application needs, especially in the retail environment. They are manufactured according to the industry's highest quality standards, as confirmed by the RFID Lab at Auburn University, which awarded Avery Dennison its first ever ARC accreditation for overall quality.
