DNP launches new thermal transfer ribbons
The ribbons are designed for healthcare, laboratory and food processing environments.
DNP Imagingcomm America Corporation has launched two new thermal transfer ribbons designed to meet the growing identification and traceability needs in healthcare, laboratory and food processing environments. R380 Alcohol-Resistant Resin and V670 High-Performance TTO Resin demonstrate DNP's commitment to providing application-specific technologies that ensure print quality, durability and barcode readability throughout a product’s lifecycle.
With stricter regulations and growing traceability demands, manufacturers need durable and reliable printed information. Production codes, expiration dates, lot numbers, barcodes and identification labels must remain legible despite cleaning, chemical exposure, temperature changes, transportation and handling.
To meet these challenges, DNP invests in specialized thermal transfer ribbon formulations for critical end-use environments. The launch of R380 Alcohol-Resistant Resin and V670 High-Performance TTO Resin expands DNP's portfolio, offering customers more solutions for demanding applications.
The new R380 Alcohol-Resistant Resin is a flat head thermal transfer ribbon engineered for strong resistance to isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and ethanol. Designed for labels exposed to frequent cleaning, sanitization and handling, R380 ensures critical information remains readable and scannable throughout the product lifecycle.
R380 is compatible with PET, polyimide and PVC label materials, combining alcohol resistance with heat and scratch durability for long-term identification in regulated environments.
This ribbon is ideal for medical device labeling, pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthcare products and laboratory identification, where label integrity is essential for traceability and compliance.
By maintaining barcode readability after repeated exposure to disinfectants and sanitizing agents, R380 helps organizations reduce identification failures and supports operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Also launching, V670 High-Performance TTO Resin is a thermal transfer overprint (TTO) ribbon developed for food and beverage manufacturers who need durable coding across various production conditions and packaging substrates, including paper.
V670 withstands grease, cooking oils and temperature extremes, ensuring production codes, lot numbers, expiration dates and barcodes remain clear and readable throughout manufacturing, distribution, retail handling and storage.
V670 performs well on paper, PET and various poly-based packaging materials used in food processing and flexible packaging.
This ribbon is ideal for food processing, food packaging and flexible packaging applications where product identification must remain intact in challenging environments. Its reliable performance in both hot processing and cold storage helps manufacturers maintain coding consistency and supply chain traceability from production to point of sale.
'Today's manufacturing environments demand more from labeling and coding technologies than ever before,' said Shinichi Yamashita, president of DNP. 'With the launch of R380 Alcohol-Resistant Resin and V670 High-Performance TTO Resin, we are investing in application-driven innovation and expanding our solutions for customers in demanding industries. These products address specific durability and readability challenges faced by healthcare and food manufacturers. By advancing our thermal transfer ribbon portfolio, DNP remains focused on delivering the quality, reliability and performance our customers rely on for critical identification and traceability applications.'
The introduction of R380 and V670 demonstrates DNP's ongoing commitment to developing thermal transfer ribbon technologies that address real-world customer challenges. As requirements become more specialized, organizations need ribbon solutions optimized for unique environments and performance demands.
R380 Alcohol-Resistant Resin and V670 High-Performance TTO Resin are available starting October 7, 2026, through DNP's authorized distributors and reseller partners.
