DuPont Packaging Graphics has added Cyrel DFQ, a new high durometer digital plate, to its thermal platemaking system portfolio.

’Brand owners know that packaging is a key to a product’s shelf appeal. Cyrel DFQ provides package printing that features brilliant colors and sharp details that can help to grab the consumer’s attention,’ said Vijay Ramachandran – Asia Pacific marketing manager, DuPont Packaging Graphics. ‘We’re excited about adding another high-quality, durable plate to the Cyrel Fast line – our thermal processing technology that allows customers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and energy use.’

The new plate is designed to meet growing industry demand for higher durometer flexographic plates that provide high-quality printing across a broad range of packaging segments. Field tests are said to confirm that Cyrel DFQ provides ‘fine highlights, sharp detail, low dot gain and dazzling color saturation’. In addition, DFQ was developed to perform with a wide array of substrates and inks, and has reportedly shown to be a ‘rugged’ plate that provides ‘consistent, predictable and repeatable plate performance results’.

DuPont Cyrel Fast uses thermal technology to eliminate the solvent washout and drying steps. In addition, plates are press ready in less than an hour, increasing plateroom productivity and making just-in-time platemaking possible.

These production efficiencies result in rapid access platemaking while also contributing to the reduced environmental footprint of thermal platemaking compared to solvent platemaking, according to the findings of a recently released Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
