Edale launches hybrid press, next-gen FL3

UK printing equipment manufacturer Edale has formally added hybrid printing to its portfolio with the development of an FL3 Hybrid model.

Edale launches hybrid press, next-gen FL3

Edale has previously been involved in hybrid printing via its work with the Graphium platform, as well as other systems in its capacity as an engineering company.

The FL3 Hybrid is based on Edale’s extensive knowledge and experience of over 17 years in the hybrid/flexo market. The Edale branded hybrid press can be tailored exactly to a customer’s specific need. The automated finishing options including semi-rotary die-cutting and auto set slitting to allow for even greater efficiency required for short run jobs to be fully completed.

Edale has also developed the latest generation of its FL3 flexo press. This incorporates more automation as standard with each print station being fully motorized. Seven motors now make every adjustment on the print station allowing for quick, easy and repeatable job recall. Insetting as standard allows the user to rerun web multiple times through the press. A new improved icon-based control panel has also been developed. This has an unlimited job storage facility and can produce a productivity report, including set-up and downtime, waste monitoring and press uptime. This data can be retrieved using the supplied USB port or can be directly downloaded to a factory ERP system. Edale’s unique Uniprint head design gives superior print quality, on the fly print station set-up and magnetic sensor for pre-register. The press has a 12-450 micron substrate range and is fully servo-driven. The press has been designed in 430mm and 510mm widths.

Both of these machines were introduced at a recent agent training day hosted by Edale at its UK headquarters in Hampshire. This event saw 15 agents from all over the world travel to the UK to partake in two full days of product training, including presentations from Edale customers and suppliers.

Also presented were:

  • EZ Reg, a closed loop camera based autonomous register system;
  • EZ Die, that allows change of the full magnetic die cylinder in under 60 seconds, with auto register in X and Y direction and pressure control from the HMI; and
  • FL5 Carton, which is now been available in three web widths (510mm, 570mm and 650mm). The wider version can be configured with rotary die-cutting or sheeting, with the 5XXmm machines configurable with in-line flatbed die-cutting.

Amitabh Luthra from Printers Supply in India commented: ‘The product training on the FL3 as well as the FL5 was invaluable and the new FL3 brochure is fantastic. Edale continues to impress on their dedication to offering the highest levels of automation in the industry.’
