Gallus demonstrated the integration of digital and conventional press technologies linked by an overarching workflow system. at Labelexpo Americas 2012. The elements of Gallus’ Print Shop included the ECS340 UV flexo press, the ECS C modular converting system and the Heidelberg Linoprint L inkjet press, seen for the first time in North America after its launch at dDupa.

The workflow solution is provided by Cerm’s dedicated narrow web MIS – Cerm was recently acquired by Heidelberg – and Heidelberg’s Prinect press management system. Jobs are automatically bundled according to the optimum web path, using factors including number of colors, substrates and finishing complexity then sent down the appropriate production path, generating potential cost savings up to 20 percent compared to a standard non-automated workflow according to Gallus.
