Harlands Labels will launch its 100 percent biodegradable label at the Packaging Innovations show in Birmingham, UK, next month.

The new label range will incorporate the biodegradable adhesive, BioTak, as well as utilizing wholly compostable face materials from the NatureFlex range. This makes the labels some of the most environmentally-friendly on the market, claims the company. The material conforms to the EN13432 and has successfully undergone stringent testing criteria.

The biodegradable face materials will be available in white, clear and metallic to suit a variety of products and uses.

Tony Kelly, technical and project manager at Harlands Labels, commented: ‘This is a project we have been working on for some time and to create such an innovative final product is really fulfilling for all those who have been involved.

‘To be able to offer these new, groundbreaking labels to our existing and prospective customers shows that our efforts have really paid off and we are looking forward to launching them next month.’

The Packaging Innovations show will take place on Wednesday 11 February 2009, 10am until 5pm and on Thursday 12 February 2009, 10am until 4pm, at the NEC in Birmingham.
