Innovia launches low distortion films for IML

Innovia Films continues to expand its RayoForm range of BOPP in-mold label films with the development of RayoForm ICS clear and RayoForm IWS white films for applications requiring low distortion. 

Low distortion is of particular importance in parallel sided containers or lids where high shrinkage forces of regular BOPP can give rise to warping of the molded item.  Warped lids can be perceived by consumers as the result of food decomposing.

Benefits of these clear and white low distortion IML films are said to include:

• Balanced biaxial orientation gives broadly equivalent properties in mechanical (MD) and transverse direction (TD)
• High MD stiffness allows down-gauging versus many competitive products such as Cast PP
• Static nature optimized to give excellent printing, dispensing and pinning
• Suitable for conversion by sheet fed and roll fed processes
• Provide low distortion features for lids
