KTI/Monomatic to show enhanced MTR Series turret rewinder at Labelexpo Americas 2021

KTI, a manufacturer of automatic splicers and turret rewinders, and Monomatic, its French representative for Europe, plan to demo the latest version of KTI’s MTR Series turret rewinder at Labelexpo Americas in June 2021.

‘An improvement visitors will recognize is increased speeds. Customers have told us over and over they want a machine that is fast. We have worked hard to create something not only with increased speeds, but that is efficient, operator-friendly and durable. The challenge is always creating something speedy that can handle a variety of materials,’ said Angie Ostler, VP of finance and marketing for Quantum Design, which acquired KTI in 2014. ‘The MTR is perfect for running pressure-sensitive paper labelstock.’

Additional enhancements made to the MTR Series in recent years including auto-core loading. The MTR Series automatically loads cores onto the machine, eliminating the need for an operator to load. This leaves more time for the operator to focus on machine efficiency and package finished rolls. The automatic core loading allows for faster turret cycle times permitting shorter rolls to be run at higher line speeds.

When creating the auto-core loader, KTI’s goal was to allow the handling of a broader range of core sizes at or below the price of feeder bowl systems.

Monomatic, an unwind and rewind manufacturer based in Strasbourg, France, has been a supporter of the MTR enhancements. Monomatic and KTI have held an alliance for several years, representing each other in their respective markets: Monomatic sells KTI equipment in Europe and KTI sells Monomatic equipment in North America.

Freddy Mermin of Monomatic said: ‘We have seen the MTR Series turret rewinder evolve over the course of our relationship with KTI. We are happy with the improvements they have developed and are excited to see where they go with it next.’

KTI said it will reveal additional upgrades to the MTR Series, currently in development, in the new year.

KTI, founded in 1985 and previously known as Keene Technology, has over 35 years’ experience in the web converting industry. In 2019, KTI moved to a new state-of-the-art facility joining its parent company, Quantum Design, and four additional product lines including CTC International, a former competitor and manufacturer of similar custom engineered unwinds, splicers and rewinds, under one roof.
