Primera launches CMY+ Ultra Black inks for LX-Series label printers

Primera Technology has launched new, optional CMY+ Ultra Black Ink Cartridges for its LX600, LX610, and LX910 Color Label Printers. Primera’s LX3000, has included CMY+ Ultra Black with the printers’ dye ink version since its introduction earlier this year. Primera’s color label printers use cyan, magenta, and yellow inks to produce process black, which has many advantages over the carbon black inks used by other color label printers, says the company. These include better water resistance, compatibility with a broader range of specialty label media, and more resistance to smearing.

As an optional upgrade to Primera’s standard CMY ink cartridges, the company says that CMY+ Ultra Black has several features that make it a good choice for certain users:

Blacker Blacks. Many of Primera’s customers need a 'true' black due to the design of their labels. CMY+ Ultra Black delivers just that: One of the darkest, most consistent blacks you’ll find on any color label printer available.

Sharper Black Text. Because Ultra Black uses dye-based cyan, magenta, and yellow that prints at 1200dpi, the printer’s black text also prints at 1200dpi. Most comparable color label printers print black text at 600 dpi due to their black inks’ carbon black or pigment components. Especially on small text, the superior print resolution with CMY+ Ultra Black is very noticeable.

Superior Water Resistance. CMY+ Ultra Black, when used with tested and approved substrates, is the most water-resistant ink ever offered by Primera. White gloss BOPP, one of the company’s most popular substrates, is a perfect match.

'This is an exciting new development for Primera’s Color Label Printers,' said Mark D. Strobel, Primera’s vice president of sales and marketing. 'CMY+ Ultra Black delivers the darkest, most consistent blacks ever, allowing our users to have unlimited flexibility in the design of their labels. An added plus is the unprecedented water resistance with this new ink formulation. We believe that the number of applications for on-demand color label printing will significantly expand thanks to these new ink enhancements.'
